Description This is an organisation which provides care and education to children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. The children are typically aged 4-14 years.
Home 1: 5 boys, all in school except one. Age 8 - 14. ADHD, challenging behaviour BUT they are all keen to be engaged, football, ballet, one boy is obese and they do diet and nutirtion work with him, etc.
Home 2: mixed, Age 1 - 14, but youngest is 7.
The children are provided with warmth, a family-like atmosphere and are supported to grow self-confidence. Most of the children have been through many foster placements that failed and have a troubled past. The employer keeps a high staff-to-child ratio. especially interested to hear from male applicants.
This is an employer that supports its staff well with training and supervision, in turn you will be expected to work to high professional standards. Much emphasis is given to induction, training and supervision. (You will receive good training and induction, covering, for example, Introduction to Therapeutic Child Care, Child Protection, Restraint, Awareness of Self-harm, relevant UK legislation and more).
